The three year programme will develop candidates’ talent by giving them insight and experience across as much of the business as possible. They will spend time working on projects in a broad spectrum of functions, in retail and head office, as well as participating in training alongside graduates from other parts of the John Lewis Partnership.
The successful candidates will also spend time studying for a post-graduate level qualification, to give them theoretical business management knowledge, in addition to the hands-on experience.
And members of the Waitrose Management Board will play a key role in the new programme, from conducting the final stage selection interviews, to being involved in the personal development of the graduates. Waitrose hopes this support will help the candidates to, over time, drive their careers to the very top.
Becky Wareham, Waitrose Graduate Recruitment Manager, said: “Our new scheme has been designed to attract the highest calibre of graduates. Because of our unique, co-owned business ethos, we’re looking for ambitious people who will become engaged, active leaders of tomorrow, and will build productive working relationships to contribute to our ongoing future commercial success.
“Whilst a good degree is essential, we’re also keen to find exceptional, well-rounded individuals who can really differentiate themselves from the crowd. It’s important candidates can demonstrate involvement in activities other than purely academic - so we’ll be looking for those that have completed activities such as work experience, industrial placements or voluntary work, showing they can take on real responsibilities and challenges.”
The application process opens today, for two months. Interested parties can visit www.jlpjobs.com/graduates to find out more and apply.
