Bubble and Balm

Waitrose launches a new range of soaps from Bubble & Balm, the UK’s first 100% FAIRTRADE bodycare company

For some, treating yourself to gorgeous things is tinged with a little guilt. Well worry no more as Waitrose launches Bubble & Balm, the first range of natural liquid and clear glycerine bar soaps to carry the FAIRTRADE mark. The soaps contain FAIRTRADE sugar from Malawi,* which means a better deal for their farmers and their communities as well as a good deal for your conscience - washing your hands has never been better for you or others!

The hand made soaps are the brainchild of one-woman-band, Sue Acton who on redundancy from her banking job decided to fulfil a dream and establish her own company. Sue Acton, comments: “More and more people are becoming increasingly concerned about where and how products are made. Our products are FAIRTRADE and UK made, natural and effective, with beautiful green packaging and fantastic value. There are no compromises.”

The soap bars are long-lasting and do not crack or go squishy, while the liquid hand wash provides a rich, effective lather. Not only will these luxury soaps make your skin smell fresh and clean and leave it feeling soft and smooth, they’ll look good in your bathroom too with their eye-catching aluminium packaging. Available in relaxing lavender or refreshing citrus, you can calm or awake your senses – whichever your body needs.

Made in the UK using traditional methods, each product is naturally formulated with plant and essential oils and enriched with glycerine to soothe and moisturise. The entire range is suitable for vegetarians to use, and is free from synthetics such as parabens, sodium lauryl/laureth sulphate and phthalates. Bubble & Balm does not test products or ingredients on animals.

Bubble & Balm offers beauty in balance – the ultimate in luxury bodycare enriched with the feel-good factor.

Notes to Editors:

  • Sue Acton (37) is managing director and founder of Warwickshire based Bubble & Balm. Sue started her working life with Barclays where she held a variety of roles before being made redundant. Sue literally went from banking to beauty – she started out making bodycare products in her kitchen and testing demand by selling at Christmas markets. The company recently celebrated its first year of trading.
  • Sue now works in partnership with a UK soap maker, but she is still very much a one-woman band!

· Bubble & Balm’s pioneering soap range at Waitrose includes several FAIRTRADE firsts – the first FAIRTRADE clear glycerine soap bars and the first FAIRTRADE and natural liquid hand wash range.

· Traditional manufacturing methods mean every soap is made from scratch and finished by hand using natural raw materials.

· The luxury hand wash retails at £4.95, and the bar soaps – which are packaged in a watertight aluminium tin that doubles up as a soap dish – retail at £4.85
